member spotlight featuring...burr vineyards!

6/21/2022

Burr Vineyards is a small vineyard co-owned and operated by Grandfather-Granddaughter duo, Florian and Katie Ledermann. The winery sits on 95 acres and is open seasonally Wednesday-Saturday with wood-fired pizza on Fridays and rotating food trucks on Saturdays. You can enjoy a glass of wine indoors or the outdoor patio, or take a walk on the 3 miles of walking trail or a wagon ride through the vineyard.

Special session needed to finish work to help MN businesses

6/14/2022

Employers must send notice of frontline worker pay
By Tara Bitzan, Executive Director, Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce
The Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce joins with other Chambers around the state of Minnesota in calling for a special session so that the legislature can finish the work that was left undone.

Facing a record budget surplus, the legislature had the opportunity to provide meaningful tax relief and make strategic investments throughout the state. None of that happened, and simply can’t wait for the next session. Minnesota businesses are facing major challenges in a difficult economy.

Our hope is that they will reconvene and fulfill the budget framework that was agreed to by the governor and legislative leaders - $4 billion in tax relief, $4 billion in spending, $4 billion left on the bottom line, and $1.4 billion for bonding with a $150 million cash component.

On another note, eligible workers have until July 22, 2022, to apply for Frontline Worker Pay. Funds are not first come, first served. The money set aside for this program will be split equally among all approved applicants after the 45-day application period, the 15-day appeals period and the appeals review period.

Employers in the identified frontline sector must provide notice to all current workers who may be eligible for payments of the assistance available to them and how to apply for payments. More information can be found here to assist employers with this process: http://www.dli.mn.gov/toolkit.
