By Katie DeGier, Visitor & Member Relations Specialist, Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce The purpose of the Membership Team of the Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce is to provide a solid foundation for the growth of the Chamber through the recruitment of new members, support of new members and strategic retention strategies for existing members. The group is made up of area business leaders that represent different sectors in the community. The group meets the first Wednesday of the month with businesses and organizations that have joined the Chamber typically within the last 4 – 6 months. At the visits, the group learns about each business or organization to help promote them in our community. After the visits, a press release is created that goes out to local media outlets. The new members that are visited are also marketed on the Chamber social media pages and in the monthly Chamber Horizons newsletter. The commitment from the team to the business or organization does not stop after the visit. The team will continue to market and refer each new member as they see fit. They will be a point of contact for the new members and a familiar face at Chamber events. The members of the team will also reach out to the new members visited throughout the year to see how things are going, ask questions and invite them to Chamber events that are happening. The Membership team also helps the Chamber in other ways such as attending ground breakings and ribbon cutting ceremonies that take place in our community. The team will also help distribute member materials to our 600+ members in January and other various volunteer opportunities that we present to them though out the year. If you would be interested in serving on the Membership Team or would like to learn more, reach out to Katie DeGier at 320-763-3161 or [email protected]. We strive to fill all business sectors of our community on this team. |
