Festivals and Celebrations
Every weekend features activities of all kinds in Alexandria and the area. From outdoor sports and recreation to spectator sports and indoor recreation, visitors can choose from the widest array possible for vacation fun and weekend fun. Running the ABC’s would be easy in Alexandria from the quiet of Art in the Park to the zing-zing-zing of auto racing!
Warm weather festivals each year include Awake the Lakes during Memorial Day Weekend, Douglas County Fair in the summer, Grape Stomp Festival in the fall, and an Ice Fishing challenge in the brisk winter time. In between are several well-established celebrations including golf tournaments, theater presentations including a telethon fund raiser called Jingle Bells, and the premier band festival in all of Minnesota, the Vikingland Band Festival and Parade in June.
