Community Organizations

Vikingland Band Festival
The sound of music fills the streets of Alexandria the last weekend in June when over 2,000 high school band musicians arrive to compete in the Vikingland Band Festival. On Sunday afternoon, twenty marching bans from throughout Minnesota and the Upper Midwest perform in what is known at Minnesota’s biggest summer marching band competition. Alexandria’s own Jefferson Marching Band plays host to the competing units. The completion is intense and the music is unsurpassed. Throw out a lawn chair along Broadway for a parade you are sure to remember. The Parade begins at 1:30 pm.
